When I was 14, my mom took me to a modeling school Seattle. I had stars in my eyes, and I wanted to make an effort at something big. Unfortunately, the first mistake was going to a modeling school. The cost was $3,000 for a 12 weeks course and didn't include the two hour drive each way, meals, and gas once a week. Did I mention that my parents paid for everything. What did I learn??? I learned that we did everything wrong!
I learned that I needed pictures not classes. I learned that I needed an agent who knew how to market me. I learned that students were taking photos of me instead of professionals. The photos were terrible! Basically, I didn't learn much other than what I shouldn't have done.
Once I recorrected, I learned that I wasn't ready for people to tell me to loose weight when I weighed all of 100 lbs. or that I was too short, and that I need to chop my hair off. I learned that people in this industry were aggressive and rude for the most part. Maybe I thought, I wasn't cut out for this. After all, who wants to stand in line for eight hours just have some New York fashion guru tell me in two seconds that I'm not right for the East Coast. But I secretly wanted those great photos and to walk the cat walk.

Getting a real agent was the answer. I waisted so much time and a ton of my parents money on doing everything wrong. I didn't research, or visit other agencies. I didn't know the difference between a modeling school or a modeling agency. I didn't allow myself the time in making a choice about who might work the best for me. Who did I feel was the most comfortable company to work with?
If you ask me today if I would have changed anything that happened....... The answer would be- No way!!! If I hadn't gone through any of that, I wouldn't be here today to help people, families, and talented individuals do what they love to do, or learn about this industry. I learned from my experience and so can you. Don't do what I did!
